Is Cheap Student Travel Insurance Worth the Price?
If you are the parent of a student who is getting ready to take off on a trip, one of the best things you can get your kid is not a new camera or a new backpack, or even a guidebook of Europe or a rail pass.
Most students head out on the trip of a lifetime without any kind of insurance. If they do this, they could be in big trouble – and so could you if something happened to them. If they drive during their vacation, even on a motor scooter, and got in an accident, they would not be covered.
If they were ill or injured during their trip, they would have no way to obtain medical care without paying exorbitant fees that are normally charged to foreigners.
Cheap student travel insurance is one way to show how much you care for your child, even if you don’t completely trust them yet! Should they lose their wallet or their belongings, travel insurance will enable them to get reimbursement without much trouble.
Should they be robbed or subject to some other kind of criminal activity, they will also be covered. Don’t you want what is best for them?
One of the main reasons that most parents buy cheap student travel insurance is not to cover the kid in case of illness or theft, but rather in case the student has a sudden change in plans.
Most travel insurance will reimburse you for a change in plan due to illness or the medical condition of a direct relative. Travel insurance will also cover you if you are forced to change your plans because of weather, a strike, an airline going out of business, or some other reason beyond your control.
In today’s fast-paced and often dangerous world, it is not a good idea to send anyone out, let alone your daughter or son, without some sort of insurance to protect them.
If you ask most people who have traveled extensively, they will be able to tell you at least one story of being robbed or stranded, of losing their identification or their tickets, or simply being stuck in a foreign country with no way out.
Make sure that your child doesn’t end up telling that kind of story, too.
